Sainte-Chapelle de Paris

  • Rose Ensemble Home Concerts Minneapolis, MN (map)

When French King Louis IX built the glorious Gothic chapel known as Sainte-Chapelle, he intended it to house his collection of Passion relics, including Christ’s Crown of Thorns and fragments of the True Cross — the most important relics in medieval Christendom. For centuries after its consecration in 1248, this architectural masterpiece was also home to some of the most exquisite medieval and Renaissance vocal music ever written. Guest instrumentalists join us for this regal performance, for which we have chosen venues which shine like acoustical gems fit for a King.
